FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona men’s basketball team completed its roster for the upcoming season with the signing of forward Clint Bozner and guard Durrell Norman, Head Coach Mike Adras announced.
“I am really happy to pick up both of these guys late in the process,” said Head Coach Mike Adras. “I think they both can come in with the opportunity to earn minutes on this team.”
Bozner, who played at Villa Park High School in Corona, Calif., averaged 16 points, 10 rebounds and four assists as a senior. He helped team to CIF playoffs while earning All-Century League and McDonald’s All-America nominee honors. He was coached in AAU by Joedy Gaerdner, Jr., the son of former NAU coach Joedy Gardner.
“Clint provides a big body guy that in time can be very productive in the Big Sky,” said Adras. “As well as he learns in the upcoming year will determine how much he plays on the court.”
Norman, a transfer from Irvine Valley College, averaged 13.5 points and 6.4 rebounds while shooting 48.6 percent from the field last season An All-Orange Empire first-team selection, he helped his team to their first ever trip to the state tournament in 2009-10, finishing with a record of 26-5, the second-best win total in program history. He is a product of the Irvine Valley program coached by Jerry Hernandez that has produced former Lumberjack standouts Commander King, Chris Ferguson and Joakim Kjellbom.
“Durrell is a guy that can play multiple positions, that is what I like about him the most,” said Adras. “He works really hard and, whether he plays wing or forward for us, I think he will find his way on to the court because of the way he plays.”
The Lumberjacks went 14-14 overall (8-8 Big Sky) in 2009-10, falling in the opening round of the Big Sky Tournament. The Lumberjacks have a talented returning group for the 2010-11 season, including four returning starters and 10 letter winners overall. Overall, NAU returns 87 percent of its scoring, including the five top scorers and seven of the top eight, and 77 percent of the rebounds from the 2009-10 season.
