Cameron Jones Has Workout with Phoenix Suns

PHOENIX, Ariz. - Northern Arizona's Cameron Jones worked out for the Phoenix Suns Tuesday in a closed workout at U.S. Airways Center. Jones was among six players in the workout including Morehead State's Kenneth Faried, Butler's Matt Howard, Oakland's Keith Benson, Penn State's Taylor Battle and Washington State's DeAngelo Casto.

"He did a good job," said John Treloar, the Suns Director of Player Personnel. "We saw him play two or three times this year. It was a good chance to get him in and he went against Taylor Battle from Penn State, who is a little smaller and quicker. He is a very physical guard. It was great to see him here."

Jones, who was the NAU Male Athlete of the Year, averaged 20.0 points per game as a senior, breaking the school's single-season and career scoring marks. He was a unanimous selection to the All-Big Sky first-team and selected to the Lou Henson All-America team presented by He was also a NABC All-District 6 second team selection, was a finalist for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award and played in the Reese's College All-Star game at the Final Four.

"It was very competitive," said Suns General Manager Lance Blanks generally about the Suns pre-draft workouts. "We have several guys in here and it has been quite impressive to see them competing for continuation of their careers in the NBA. The workouts have been very impressive."

Jones also has a workout scheduled with his hometown Los Angeles Lakers on Friday.

"We are really happy for Cameron to have to the opportunity to work out for the Suns," said Head Coach Mike Adras. "It is a great chance to work with some professional teams especially before the draft is a big. We are excited for him."
