OMAHA, Neb. - The Northern Arizona men's basketball team (0-1) will continue the Midwest portion of the Global Sports Hy-Vee Challenge Sunday afternoon when they take on Creighton in Omaha, Neb., at 12:05 p.m. The game can be heard on 105.1 FM the Big Talker in Flagstaff and heard on the internet.
Creighton enters Sunday¹s game with a 1-0 record after picking up a 71-57 victory over Alabama State on Friday.
The Bluejays return four starters and 10 lettermen from last year¹s team that finished 18-16, a group highlighted by preseason MVC Player of the Year Kenny Lawson Jr. (11.0 ppg., 6.0 rpg., 1.0 bpg.). Lawson has led the MVC in blocked shots each of the past two years and was a second-team all-Valley selection last winter.
After being held scoreless on nine shot attempts in the first half, senior Cameron Jones led the Lumberjacks in scoring with 15 second-half points. Fellow senior Shane Johannsen chipped in 14 points, six rebounds, two blocks and was a perfect 6-for-6 from the field. Both Johannsen and Platt (12 points) came off the bench for the Lumberjacks in the loss.
