AMES, Iowa – The Northern Arizona men's basketball team opens the 2010-11 season at Iowa State in the first of two road games to open the campaign. The games are part of the Global Sports Hy-Vee Challenge that includes Iowa State, Creighton, Alabama State and Kennesaw State. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Hilton Coliseum.

Iowa State head coach Fred Hoiberg makes his coaching debut on Friday and will have only 10 players eligible.
NAU welcomes a talented group back this season, including four returning starters and nine letter winners. Overall, NAU returns 87 percent of its scoring, including the five top scorers and seven of the top eight overall, and 77 percent of the rebounds from the 2009-10 season.
Seniors Cameron Jones, Shane Johannsen, Eric Platt and Julian Olubuyi are expected to start with transfer Austin Smith, who sat out last season after joining the program from Liberty, is expected to make his Lumberjack debut.
NAU and Iowa State have never met in school history. This game is believed to be the first game for Northern Arizona in the state of Iowa as the Lumberjacks have never faced Iowa, Iowa State or Northern Iowa.
