Grogan Joins Mens Basketball Staff
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Quintin Grogan
has joined the Northern Arizona men’s basketball staff as an
assistant coach, Head Coach Mike Adras announced Thursday.
“I am very excited to have Quintin join our staff,”
said Adras. “He has definitely paid his dues and worked his
way up the ladder. He has worked at different levels and he brings
a variety of talents to our program.”
Grogan comes to NAU after serving as an assistant coach at
Division II Metropolitan State College of Denver. He helped Metro
State to a RMAC regular season title and NCAA Tournament Central
Regional appearance in 2009, recording a 27-4 overall record with
an 18-1 conference mark in winning the RMAC Eastern Division title.
The Roadrunners lost to defending champion Winona State in the NCAA
Tournament.
Grogan tutored three players who earned RMAC all-conference honors
including RMAC most valuable player Jesse Wagstaff, who earned
second-team All-America honors and was named to the ESPN the
Magazine/CoSIDA first team Academic All-America squad.
Prior to Metro State, he was an assistant coach at Los Angeles
Southwest College from 2006-08. He was elevated to the associate
head coach in 2007-08, leading the team to the South Coast
Conference South Division title. During his time at LA Southwest he
worked under legendary Head Coach Reggie Morris, who also served as
Grogan’s high school coach.
He began his coaching career at Marshall Fundamental High School
in Pasadena, Calif., starting as the junior varsity head coach from
2001-02. He was promoted to head coach serving from 2002-06 in
addition to athletic director duties from 2002-03. He guided the
team to five consecutive California Interscholastic Federation
(CIF) playoff berths.
