Mens Basketball Players Tipoff Summer Reading Program
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The
Northern Arizona men’s basketball team took a break from
summer school Monday to help the Flagstaff Main Library kickoff the
start off its Summer Reading Program.
The student-athletes took shifts over four hours Monday playing
with local kids on the Wii NBA 2K9 game in a back room at the
library.
“I got worked in the first game,” said sophomore Josh
Lepley. “We had to come back to get some
redemption.”
Lepley says it is important to reach out to the Flagstaff
community.
“It is very important because they come out and support
us,” said Lepley.
Sophomore Gabe Rogers teamed with Lepley in one of the first
sessions.
“I used to look up to people when I was younger,” said
Rogers, who redshirted last season. “It makes you feel good
when some one looks up to you.”
The players interacted with the kids while playing the games and
signing autographs.
The Summer Reading Program runs from June 8-July 31, 2009. For
more information, contact the Main Library at 928-779-7671.
