Men’s Basketball Adds Two Student-Athletes

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona men’s basketball program has added two junior college transfers for the upcoming season, Head Coach Mike Adras announced Tuesday.
Julian Olubuyi, a 5-9 guard out of Northwest (Wyo.) College, and Isaiah Jackson, a 6-7 forward out of Mississippi Gulf Coast CC, both signed a national letter-of-intent to join the program this fall.

“These two young men have great basketball backgrounds and are committed to being excellent student-athletes in our program,” said Adras. “I can’t wait to get started with implementing them into our system.”

Olubuyi, who hails from Houston, played the last two seasons at Northwest College in Powell, Wyoming. He led the team in scoring last season with 14.3 points per game, earning Wyoming Community College Athletic Conference first-team selection and Region IX North Sub-Region Player of the Year honors. He played his prep ball at Klein Collins High School, leading his school into the top 8 as a sophomore and top 16 of the state tournament in the Texas’ largest classification during his final two seasons.

Jackson, who is originally from New Braunfels, Texas, played his freshman season at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi before transferring to Mississippi Gulf Coast CC. He averaged 12.5 points per game last season, earning MACJC all-state second-team honors and helping his team into the JUCO national tournament and the school’s first Region 23 title in 15 years. He played his high school ball at Canyon High School.

The duo joins three student-athletes who signed earlier in the signing period with the Lumberjacks bringing the recruiting class to five players. NAU previously added wing DeAngelo Jones out of Cochise College, forward Reid Wallace out of Tomball (Texas) High School and guard Stallon Saldivar out of Judge Memorial in Salt Lake City.
