Men's Basketball Posts Big Victory over Northern New Mexico
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Junior
Cameron Jones had 28 points and senior Nick Larson recorded his
first career double-double at Northern Arizona defeated Northern
New Mexico 113-68 at the Walkup Skydome.
The Lumberjacks finished the non-conference with a 6-5 record,
winning three of their last four games heading into the restart of
Big Sky Conference play on Saturday against Northern Colorado
(12-3).
Jones finished with 28 points, one short of his single-game best,
with the help a 10-for-17 night from the field with four
three-pointers, seven rebounds and four assists. Larson had 11
points with a career-best 11 rebounds. Overall, NAU had six players
in double figures in the contest.
Gabe Rogers and DeAngelo Jones each scored 14 points, while Shane
Johannsen added 12 points. Redshirt freshman Luis Flores added 11
points off the bench.
The 113 points were the 11th-best single-game total in school
history and NAU’s 62 first-half points were one short of the
first half record of 63.
NAU shot 57 percent for the game with 13 three-pointers but hit
only 64 percent at the line. The Lumberjacks out-rebounded the
Eagles 50-22, forced 26 turnovers and had 34 assists in the
game.
NAU plays host to Northern Colorado on Saturday at 6:35 p.m. in the
Walkup Skydome. The game can be heard on the Lumberjack Radio
