Mens Basketball Takes on San Diego State Saturday
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – After
some Thanksgiving turkey, the Northern Arizona men’s
basketball team will look to build on its win at Pacific on
Wednesday when it takes on San Diego State Saturday afternoon at 4
p.m. in its final game of the West Coast Classic.
The game was moved to 3 p.m. PT (4 p.m. MT) after originally
scheduled for 7 p.m. PT at Viejas Arena.
Junior college transfer DeAngelo Jones broke out with a 28-point
effort to lead NAU to a 88-72 victory over Santa Clara Wednesday
night.
NAU shot 52.7 percent from the field and made seven three-pointers
and connected on 71 percent (23-of-31) from the charity stripe.
Junior Shane Johannsen sat out the game with a sprained ankle. D.
Jones took over in the starting the lineup along with true freshman
Stallon Saldivar. Both players were making their first career
starts as Lumberjacks.
Junior Cameron Jones continues to lead the Lumberjacks at 19.5
points per game, while Eric Platt has contributed 14.6 points per
game off the bench.
NAU has posted a 1-1 record in the West Coast Classic with its
third game against Pacific suspended due to a power outage.
The game can be heard on the Sodexo Lumberjack Radio Network in
Flagstaff on KAFF AM 930 starting at 3:35 p.m. with the pregame
show. Mitch Strohman and Dave Brown will call the game
courtside.
