Men’s Basketball Player Jones Named Player of the Week

OGDEN, Utah - Northern Arizona guard Cameron Jones has been selected the Big Sky Conference men's basketball Player of the Week after leading his team to a pair of conference road victories.

"Everything fell into place this week," said Jones. "We got our bigs open looks and that created opportunities for our team. I have never beat Portland State. It was good to get victories on the road."

Jones, a 6-foot-4 junior from Los Angeles averaged 26 points, seven rebounds and three assists per game as the Lumberjacks beat Eastern Washington 73-69 on Friday and Portland Sate 93-86 on Sunday. Jones made 21-of-28 shots from the field (.750 percent) and made both of his 3-point attempts.

Jones made 12-of-15 shots and scored 28 points with nine rebounds, two assists and two steals in the Lumberjacks' victory over Eastern Washington.

He followed with a 24-point, seven-rebound, and four-assist effort in the win over Portland State, which snapped the Vikings' 13-game homecourt winning streak. Jones was 9-of-13 from the floor, 2-of-2 from 3-point range and 4-of-5 from the free-throw line.

This is the first Player of the Week honor this season for Jones and the second of his career.

Neal Kingman, F, NC: Averaged 15 points per game in a win and a loss.

Dominic Waters, G, PSU: Averaged 21 points and four assists in a win and a loss.

Domineek Daniel, G, SAC: Averaged 15.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game in two losses.

Franklin Session, G, WSU: Scored 22 points, with nine rebounds and four assists in a win.
