FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The
Northern Arizona men’s basketball team will look for its
first Big Sky Conference win of the season against a hot and
nationally-ranked Northern Colorado team Saturday at 6:35 p.m. at
the Walkup Skydome.
“They are head and shoulders above everybody right
now,” said Head Coach Mike Adras of Northern Colorado.
“They are playing very well and are a good team. They have
won a lot of road games. They are the hottest team in our league
and we are hoping home court advantage will mean a lot for
us.”
Northern Colorado (12-3) is ranked No. 19 in the
CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25. It is the highest-ever NCAA
Division I ranking for the Bears and marks a school-record six
straight weeks that the Bears have been considered one of the
nation's top teams. They received 193 votes in this week's poll to
come in just ahead of No. 20 Portland.
NAU and Northern Colorado have met nine previous times with NAU
holding a 6-3 edge. The home team has won seven consecutive times
in the series. NAU is 4-0 all-time against UNC. The last three
games in the series have been decided by a total of eight
points.
Junior Cameron Jones has extended his game beyond the three-point
line of late. He has made 8 three-pointers over the last four games
after making just five over the first nine games. He hit a
career-best tying four three-pointers against Northern New Mexico,
equaling his career best set against Northern Colorado last
season.
The game can be seen on Big Sky Television and heard on the
