FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Northern Arizona Athletics had one current and two former student-athletes that were among 21 graduating seniors to receive the prestigious Gold Axe Award at a ceremony Wednesday recognizing seniors who have made outstanding contributions to the university in the areas of academic performance, service, leadership and participation in activities.
Devon McPeek, a current member of the football team, along with Bridger Rodoni (football), and Cheyanne Mumphrey (soccer) bring the NAU Athletics Department's total to 50 Gold Axe recipients since 2004.
The Gold Axe Award dates back to 1933 and is presented each semester to honor graduating seniors for their achievements and service. It is a tribute to outstanding academic performance, leadership and service to the community.
McPeek is a four-year member of the football team and an All-Big Sky Academic honoree. The Tucson native will graduate in December with a degree in exercise science.
Rodoni is majoring in biomedical science and was honored with the President's Prize.
Mumphrey earned the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences Distinguished Senior Award. She is graduating in December with a degree in journalism.
