Lumberjacks Ranked No. 25 in FCS Coaches’ Poll

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – After a smooth sailing 73-3 win over New Mexico Highlands in its home opener, the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks are tied for 25th in the latest FCS Coaches' Poll released today.

Sophomore quarterback Case Cookus threw for seven touchdowns, after completing 14 of 25 passes for 296 passing yards. It was the most passing touchdowns by any player in the FCS or FBS this season. He's the only quarterback (FBS and FCS) to throw seven touchdowns in a game back-to-back seasons. Five of Cookus' touchdown passes landed in the hands of junior wide receiver Emmanuel Butler, who tied the NAU single game record. Butler's five touchdown receptions are the most by any player in the FCS or FBS this season.

NAU was also slotted No. 18 in the HERO Sports Poll and No. 23 in the Athlon Sports FCS Power Poll. The Lumberjacks received votes in the FCS STATS Poll, falling out of the Top 25 landing in 26th place.
