PARK CITY, Utah – Sophomore quarterback Case Cookus is coming off a very successful freshman campaign. From breaking numerous records to earning the FCS STATS National Freshman Player of the Year, Cookus is set to lead the Lumberjack offense in 2016.
Cookus was selected as the NAU player representative for the Big Sky Kickoff being held in Park City, Utah from July 17-19.
How would you describe your freshman year?
It was fun and a great experience. I really enjoyed it. Earning the awards was a nice bonus, but I was happy to be a part of a program that really challenged ourselves on a daily basis.
How excited are you for the season to begin?
I'm really excited because we have grown as a team. It was nice to get a full offseason with all of the guys. I think we've really cleaned up our offense and the defense has grown as well.
What should fans expect from NAU in 2016?
We have some tough opponents coming to the Skydome this year. Eastern Washington and Montana are always games to play at home. We'll be a fun team to watch with a bunch of playmakers on both sides of the ball.
How do you feel being selected as NAU's representative for the Big Sky Kickoff?
It's a great honor to be able to represent the team. Being here in Park City I've had a great time meeting everyone around the Big Sky. It's been nice to get to know my opponents and build a friendly rivalry.
