FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona football team wrapped up its first week of spring practice this morning. The Lumberjacks went live for the first time this semester and it was definitely something they had been waiting for.
"I thought the first contact practice was great," said quarterback Case Cookus. "The defense was out here getting really physical with the guys and it's good because offensively we want to get a little tougher. We're moving the ball and making mistakes early, but overall we are progressing as a team and that's good to see."
Cookus and the offense moved the ball pretty well this afternoon, but the defense was able to come up with a few stops including a fumble and an interception here and there as they made adjustments throughout practice.
The Lumberjacks return to the field next week with practice at 4 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday, followed by a 2:30 p.m. practice on Saturday. All practices will take place on the upper fields.
