FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – It's been four months since the Northern Arizona football team wrapped up the 2015 season, but today marked the start of a new season. Spring is here and so is football, as the Lumberjacks completed day one of physically getting prepared for the upcoming season.
"It's always good to be out on the field," said head coach Jerome Souers. "Today was all about getting adjusted with a new roster and setting in motion our game plan for the 2016 season. We're coming off one of the best offensive seasons we've had in a while, but we can't settle. We need to continue to improve on both sides of the ball, which includes a young defensive unit."
The team went through 22 periods today with no pads on. While today may have been the start of a new season, the Lumberjacks will also work together to make sure all units work as one.
NAU will practice Thursday at 4 p.m., while Saturday's practice is slated for 10 a.m. - both to be conducted on the upper fields. The Lumberjacks will close out their offseason with the Spring Game on Saturday, April 23 at 2 p.m.
