FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Northern Arizona (0-0) opens the 2015 season this Saturday, Sept. 5 at Stephen F. Austin (0-0). Kickoff at Homer Bryce Stadium is set for 4 p.m. AZ time.

Saturday's game will be broadcast live on HITS 106.1 FM, KNOT 100.9 FM & 1450 AM, and Fans in the Phoenix area can tune into Money Radio 1510 AM & 99.3 FM. Mitch Strohman will be providing play-by-play and Kevin Stephens will be doing color commentary. Matt Howdeshell will be reporting from the sidelines. Head Coach Jerome Souers begins his 18th season at the helm of the NAU program as they celebrate 100 years of Lumberjack football. For the second straight year, NAU will play in the Lone Star State (Abilene Christian last season). NAU named redshirt freshman Case Cookus the starter for its season opener at SFA this Saturday. The Lumberjacks take the field on Saturday with seven returning starters on offense and six on defense. All-Big Sky Preseason picks RJ Rickert, Nick Butier, Marcus Alford and Ryan Hawkins will lead NAU in its 2015 debut. NAU went 7-5 last season, 5-3 in the Big Sky. The 'Jacks were picked to finish fifth/sixth in the conference preseason polls released in July.

Stephen F. Austin Head Coach Clint Conque earned Southland Conference Big Sky Coach of the Year honors after leading the Lumberjacks to an 8-5 record and FCS Playoff appearance in his first year. SFA enters 2015 ranked No. 24 in the STATS LLC. Preseason Poll. The Lumberjacks' playoff appearance was the seventh in school history, falling to Northern Iowa, 44-10. In 2014, SFA defeated two Top 10 opponents in No. 6 McNeese State and No. 8 Southeastern Louisiana. SFA was picked to finish second/fourth in the SLC preseason polls. SFA lost the 2014 SLC Player of the Year in running back Gus Johnson, but return the SLC Newcomer of the Year in quarterback Zach Conque. Conque and SFA had the ninth-best completion percentage in the FCS last season at 65.5. The Lumberjacks went 5-2 at Homer Bryce Stadium in 2014.



• Saturday marks the third time overall the two teams will face each other, and the first time since 2004.

• SFA defeated NAU in 2004, 24-17 in overtime in Nacogdoches.

• NAU Head Coach Jerome Souers is 1-1 all-time versus SFA.

• This is the fourth straight year SFA will play a Big Sky school.

• SFA Head Coach Clint Conque and quarterback Zach Conque are a father-son duo.
