FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Northern Arizona's Marcus Alford and RJ Rickert were named to the College Sports Madness 2015 Preseason FCS Football All-American Teams, announced by the organization.
Alford, a senior from Oxnard, Calif. was named to the second team as a defensive back. A two-time All-Big Sky selection, Alford tied for the most interceptions on the team last season with three. He was also credited with 10 pass breakups and 27 tackles.
Rickert, a redshirt senior from Gilbert, Ariz., was also named to the second team. He sat out last season due to injury. In 2013, he was an All-Big Sky First Team and CSM All-American Third Team honoree. He recorded 22 catches for 246 yards. Rickert led all tight ends in receptions, yards and yards per game.
Alford and Rickert are a part of an NAU squad that will open the season on Sept. 5 at Stephen F. Austin. The Lumberjacks were picked to finish fifth/sixth in the Big Sky by the coaches and media.
