Alford and Butier Named to the 2015 STATS FCS Preseason All-America Team

HATBORO, Pa. – Northern Arizona's Marcus Alford and Nick Butier were named to the 2015 STATS FCS Preseason All-America Third Team, announced Thursday by the organization. It is the second preseason All-America team honor of the season for both Alford and Butier.    

Alford and Butier were two of 15 Big Sky players named to the team, giving the conference the second most in the FCS.

Alford, a senior cornerback from Oxnard, Calif., will lead the NAU defense in 2015. He tallied 27 tackles and tied for a team high three interceptions as a junior. One of the best pass defenders in the nation, Alford an all-conference honoree, registered 10 pass breakups in addition to scoring a pair of touchdowns.

Butier, a native of San Luis Obispo, Calif., appeared in all 12 games for NAU last season with 10 starts. The senior fullback finished the season with 17 catches for 181 yards and 29 rushing yards. A two-time all-conference honoree, Butier was credited with a pair of touchdowns last year.

This is the second preseason All-America honor of 2015 for Alford and Butier.
