ROSELAND, NJ – Northern Arizona earned five selections to the 11th Annual USA College Football FCS (Division I-AA) Pre-Season All-American Teams. Seniors RJ Rickert, Roy Garcia, and Austin Hasquet, along with junior Nick Butier and sophomore Jacob Julian were all recognized with preseason honors.
Rickert earned first team accolades. The tight end caught 22 passes for a total of 246 yards. The first team all-conference honoree played in 11 games and led all tight ends in receiving yards.
Garcia, an offensive lineman, was selected to the second team. He was a second team all-conference selection a year ago, and started all 12 games for NAU – 11 of them at center.
Butier received third team honors at fullback. He appeared in all 12 games and garnered seven starts. Butier recorded five carries for 11 yards and caught five passes for a total of 40 yards.
Hasquet was named to the third team. He led the Lumberjacks in tackles with 91 en route to second team all-conference honors last season. Hasquet started all 12 games in 2013 and tied for a team-high three interceptions.
Julian earned honorable mention accolades. The sophomore offensive lineman returns after a solid freshman season. He started all 12 games for the Lumberjacks and earned All-Big Sky Second Team accolades.
