Football Team Opens 2012 Practice Friday
2012 NAU Football Fall Camp Practice Schedule (PDF)
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - The Northern Arizona University football team opens practice on August 3 with a workout from 3-5 p.m. in the Walkup Skydome. The Lumberjack team will report on Thursday for team physicals.
The Lumberjacks will conduct five days of single sessions before going twice on Wednesday, August 8. NAU has three scheduled scrimmages on August 10, August 17 and August 22.
The Lumberjacks return 15 starters and 39 letter winners overall, as well as 26 players who have been on the team or are coming off a redshirt season.
"We have a lot of returnees with a lot of experience; Not just starters but guys who were in the rotation of reps who should help our experience," said Souers. "We are going to rely on the lessons we learned last year to apply to this season's schedule that I believe will give us a stronger performance."
The Lumberjacks are scheduled to have 22 workouts prior to their game-week preparations for the season opener on Thursday, Aug. 30 against Arizona State at Sun Devil Stadium. Kickoff has been set for 7:30 p.m. and will be part of the first broadcasts on the newly created Pac 12 Network.
Fans can still purchase season tickets by calling 928-523-5353. All season tickets holders who renew or purchase before the early "Louie" deadline, July 31, 2012, will receive a free ticket to the NAU-Arizona State football game for each season ticket purchased.
