Four Lumberjacks Earn NSCA All-American Awards
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) has awarded four Lumberjacks with their annual All-American Strength and Conditioning Athlete of the Year awards.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - College Football Performance Awards, the largest awards organization in D-I college football, recently announced its watch list for the 2013 CFPA FCS Running Back Award, and NAU running back Zach Bauman earned a spot on the list.

47 Student-Athletes to Participate in Spring Commencement
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Forty-seven NAU student-athletes will receive their degrees from the university this Friday and Saturday as part of the spring 2013 commencement ceremonies. In addition to the 13 student-athletes who earned their degrees at the conclusion of the fall 2012 semester, the Lumberjack athletics department produced 60 total graduates during the 2012-13 academic year.

Football’s Gilleo, Willis Sign NFL Free Agent Contracts
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Former Lumberjack offensive lineman Trey Gilleo and cornerback Devin Willis signed free-agent NFL contracts over the weekend following the NFL draft. Both All-Big Sky selections last season, Gilleo signed with the New York Jets while Willis was picked up by the Green Bay Packers.

Blue Edges Gold in 2013 Spring Football Game
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Before a crowd of 1,152 fans on a 70-degreee day in Flagstaff NAU’s defense in Blue recorded four sacks and an interception and held the Gold offensive unit to just one touchdown to score a 44-34 win in the 2013 NAU Blue & Gold Spring Game.

Big Sky Honors 41 NAU Student-Athletes as Fall All-Academic
OGDEN, Utah – The Northern Arizona football, volleyball, soccer and men's and women's cross country teams placed a total of 41 student-athletes on the fall 2012 Big Sky All-Academic Teams as recognized by the conference office. The 41 honorees were part of a department-strong 3.12 cumulative GPA posted by its more than 300 student-athletes during the fall semester.

Football Earns No. 20 Ranking in Final Polls

CLEVELAND – Northern Arizona senior fullback Jake Hess was one of 54 student-athletes named to the 15th annual Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA) Academic All-Star Team presented by KP Sports, the FCS ADA announced. Three conferences had seven student-athletes named to the All-Star Team, including the Big Sky Conference, Missouri Valley Football Conference and the Southern Conference.

GREELEY, Colo. – The Northern Arizona football team overcame three turnovers with a big play defensive effort and late field goal to escape with a 12-10 victory over Northern Colorado Saturday on a brisk afternoon at Nottingham Field. Return of Big Sky TV Announced by Big Sky and America ONE Sports
OGDEN, Utah - The Big Sky Conference and America ONE Sports recently agreed to a three-year contract extension, allowing fans and alumni to enjoy free video streams of most football, volleyball and men’s and women’s basketball games held in Big Sky venues. The new contract also calls for events to be available through iOS and Android mobile devices free of charge.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – NAU-TV will televise and distribute 15 Fall events in high definition to air on local cable, FOX Sports Arizona and Fox College Sports, and online on www.NAU-TV.com. A record nine games will air live on FOX Sports Arizona or FOX Sports Arizona Plus, including three football games airing live on basic cable throughout the state of Arizona for the first time. NAU Athletics Partners with Kinsey Elementary for NFL PLAY 60 Field Day
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Student-athletes, coaches, and NAU Athletics staff members volunteered their time Tuesday to help run a field day for the students of Kinsey Elementary school. The event was part of the NFL PLAY 60 initiative, which encourages kids to be active for 60 minutes a day in order to help reverse the trend of childhood obesity. More than 20 NAU Athletics volunteers helped make the event a success.

Former Lumberjack Lance Kriesien Talks About Playing Football in Serbia
Lance Kriesien played for the Lumberjacks from 2005-08, finishing his career ninth on the career passing list for 3,522 yards, ninth in total offense with 4,704 yards, ninth in passing attempts with 507 and ninth in completions with 298. Four Student-Athletes Earn NSCA All-America Honors

Q&A with NAU Hall of Famer and Wide Receiver Coach Jeff Lewis
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Jeff Lewis begins his first season on the staff at Northern Arizona University, returning to his alma mater as the wide receivers coach. Lewis previously coached three seasons at the University of Louisville. He was the offensive administration assistant in 2007 and 2008 before being promoted to wide receivers coach in 2009. He served as assistant football coach at Prescott High School last season, coaching the quarterbacks and wide receivers.
