Football Places 15 on All-Big Sky Teams; Bauman and Bond Earn First-Team Accolades
OGDEN, Utah – Sophomore running back Zach Bauman and senior defensive lineman Isaac Bond were both selected to the All-Big Sky First Team, the league office announced on Tuesday. Bauman, who was a unanimous selection, and Bond were among 15 Lumberjacks honored on the All-Big Sky teams.
Bauman led the Big Sky Conference in rushing at 130.5 yards per game (fifth in the FCS) and ranked ninth in total offense and fourth in scoring. He rushed for 1,435 yards, the third-best total in school history, with 15 touchdowns, the second-best total in school history, while recording 1,787 all-purpose yards from scrimmage. He was also third on the team with 29 receptions for 352 yards and one touchdown. The Chandler, Ariz., product posted seven 100-yard rushing games on the season, including five consecutive to end the season and totaled 100 or more yards in seven of the last eight overall.
Bond, who is from Vancouver, Wash., had 36 tackles with a team-best 7.5 quarterback sacks among 8.0 tackles for loss. He ranked third in the Big Sky in sacks at 0.68 per game.
Center Alex Mott (Troutdale, Ore.) and fullback Jake Hess were both named to the All-Big Sky second team offensive unit. Mott anchored an offensive line that supported Bauman's efforts and an offense that ranked 15th overall in the Football Championship Subdivision in total offense and 19th in passing. Hess, a transfer from Boise State who hails from Reno, Nev., led the charge for the rushing success and pass protection from his fullback position.
Wide receiver Khalil Paden led five Lumberjacks on the All-Big Sky honorable mention offense. He led the team with 61 receptions, 991 receiving yards and eight touchdowns and ranked fifth in the Big Sky in receptions and receiving yards per game. The Chatsworth, Calif., native recorded five 100-yard receiving games.
Quarterback Cary Grossart, offensive tackle Trey Gilleo, offensive guards Kyle Walker and Dwight Boyd and tight end Brian Riley were also selected to the honorable mention unit. Grossart went 197-for 299 with 16 touchdowns while completing 65.9 percent of his passes. He ranked tops in Big Sky passing efficiency (fifth in the nation) and third in both passing per game (249.5) and total offense (255.4).
Senior linebacker Scott McKeever, who led the team with 46 tackles, earned All-Big Sky honors for the second consecutive season. He joined defensive tackles Tim Wilkinson and Blayne Anderson and cornerback Anders Battle on the team list. Long snapper Ben Bachelier also earned All-Big Sky honorable mention accolades for his special teams play.
