FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. –The Northern Arizona football program is planning a special weekend for all Football Alumni for the home opener for the 2011 season and Walkup Skydome grand opening.
"Our goal is establish contact with our football alumni," said Head Coach Jerome Souers, who is beginning his 14th season at NAU. "It is time that we reached a hand out and invite them back to reconnect with the university and relive the memories and joys they had as players and students in Flagstaff."
The Alumni Weekend package will include a ticket to the game, a football program hat and tailgate prior to the game. The alums will have the opportunity to attend the team walk-thru Friday afternoon and Flagstaff Chamber Mixer Friday night in the Walkup Skydome, the first public event in the building prior to the game the next day against Fort Lewis College. Granny's closet will host gatherings Friday and Saturday night, Sept. 9-10.
"I don't think you can spend enough time on your alumni, your older brothers in the program, involving them in the family" said Souers. "This is long overdue and this is an event we would like to invite anyone and everybody in the NAU Football Family to be part of. It is very special with the re-opening of the Dome and a really good football team."
Alumni can register for the event on the NAU Website. Questions? Call Director of Football Operations Matt Howdeshall at 928-523-6800.
