105.1 The Big Talker KBTK To Air NAU Athletics Games in Flagstaff, Prescott and most of northern Arizona

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Giving NAU Lumberjack football and basketball broadcasts a home that covers most of northern Arizona, Grenax Broadcasting II, LLC has agreed to serve as the Flagship station of the Lumberjack Radio Network. As part of the agreement, 105.1 FM The Big Talker (KBTK) will carry all Northern Arizona University football and men's basketball game broadcasts for the 2010-2011 academic years. Selected women’s basketball games will also be aired on the station.

“We’re excited to be bringing NAU athletics to 105.1 The Big Talker” said Stan Pierce, KBTK General Manager.  “This partnership is huge for us and NAU as well; we’re looking forward to some great games on the air and being part of growing the excitement of NAU athletics in Flagstaff and across northern Arizona.”

Grenax Broadcasting II LLC owns and operates four FM radio stations in the Flagstaff-Prescott markets. The Big 107.5 KOLT Country 107.5 (KSED), featuring Big D and Bubba in the morning and 20 songs in a row all day, 96.7 The Wolf (KWMX), home of Bob and Tom in the morning and 92.5 The Canyon (KFLX) with Dan Kennedy in the morning and Ryan Seacrest’s “On-Air” weekday mornings at 10:00 a.m.

Listeners in Flagstaff, Prescott, Camp Verde, Williams, Winslow and Sedona will be able to tune into 105.1 The Big Talker to hear Mitch Strohman’s colorful play by play.  Strohman has been a part of NAU radio and television sports broadcasts since 1991 and he currently co-hosts “The Mitch and Joe Show” weekdays between 4-5 PM on 105.1.  Former NAU quarterback Kevin Stephens will again join Strohman in the booth for the Lumberjack football action in 2010.  Live Internet streaming of the NAU games will also be available at 1051thebigtalker.com.

NAU kicks off the 2010 football season on Thursday, Sept. 2 against Western New Mexico in the J.L. Walkup Skydome in Flagstaff. The first broadcast on The Big Talker 105.1 will be on Aug. 13 when the Men’s basketball team plays an exhibition game in Canada at 6 p.m.

DID YOU KNOW…Northern Arizona University finished tied for second in the Sterling Savings Presidents’ Cup standings in 2009-10. The Sterling Savings Cup reinforces the Big Sky’s dedication to the academic side of the student-athlete experience. Overall athletic success is combined with team grade point averages, graduation rates, and All-Conference performers with grade point averages of at least 3.0 to determine the winner. NAU led the conference with 37 first or second-team all-conference performers who recorded a 3.0 GPA or better.
