Former Lumberjack Holstrom Signs Contract with Philadelphia Soul
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Former Lumberjack Ryne Holstrom was signed to a contract by the Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League, the team announced.
Holstrom, a four-year letter winner on the offensive line from 2006-09, saw action in 36 career games with 32 starts. He helped the NAU offense rank fifth in the country in both passing and total offense in 2009. The West Linn, Ore., native was a four-time Golden Eagle Scholar-Athlete recipient (2006-09) and earned All-Big Sky honorable mention honors in 2007.
"I'm excited about this group of linemen who have all shown the ability to play multiple positions throughout their careers," said Soul head coach Mike Hohensee.
The Philadelphia Soul currently have 20 players under contract. AFL teams are allowed to bring 35 players to training camp, which will be in mid-February and will need to trim the roster to 20 active players a week before the 2011 season begins.
The Soul open the 2011 season at the Pittsburgh Power on Friday, March 11. Home games will be played at Wells Fargo Center (formerly Wachovia Center). The Soul capped their previous five seasons with an ArenaBowl title in 2008. Season ticket plans are now on sale, fans may order by calling the Soul sales department at (215) 253-4900 ext. 3, or request contact from a representative by filling out the form on www.philadelphiasoul.com.
