In the Spirit of College Colors Day, President Re-issues True Blue Fridays Decree

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - College Colors Day, in partnership with NCAA football, is an annual celebration dedicated to promoting the traditions and spirit that embody the college experience by encouraging fans across America to wear their favorite college or university apparel throughout the day on Friday, Sept. 4. It is celebrated by thousands of individuals, organizations, and business locations nationwide.

In recognition of College Colors Day, President John Haeger has re-issued a decree which initially established “True Blue NAU Fridays” as an NAU tradition in 2007. The decree recognizes each Friday throughout the year as a day for all NAU supporters to unite and show their school spirit by donning and displaying NAU blue.

President Haeger encourages everyone associated with NAU, including students and staff at all NAU campuses and sites throughout the state, to wear their gear and display items with the university’s colors and logos on Fridays and especially on September 4th.

NAU supporters who join the True Blue Fridays Facebook page will have a chance to win prizes that will be distributed on the first Friday of every month. The True Blue Fridays prize patrol will seek out individuals wearing NAU colors and gear on campus and throughout Flagstaff.

Local businesses and on-campus departments are encouraged to continue their support of True Blue Fridays by encouraging their staff to support the tradition. Businesses and NAU departments have a chance to win the traveling NAU Spirit trophy by submitting photos showing their school spirit.

True Blue Fridays has been overwhelmingly embraced by the NAU community since its inception two years ago. In fact, product sales have reached record levels since the launch of the program.

College Colors Day, which coincides with “back to school” and the kick-off of intercollegiate athletics, strives to advocate higher education through increased public awareness, and celebrates the achievements of colleges and universities, acknowledging their fundamental importance.
