Former Football Player Henderson Drafted by UFLs Las Vegas Locomotives
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Former Northern Arizona running back Alex Henderson was selected by the Las Vegas Locomotives with the fifth pick in the 11th round of the 2010 United Football League Draft on Wednesday. The UFL is an independent professional football league that began play in 2009.
During his collegiate career, Henderson earned All-Big Sky honors three times and first-team honors as a senior. He ranked sixth in the nation in rushing yards per game.
The Calabasas, Calif., native finished his career as one of the top running backs in school history, ranking second in school history with 3,462 career rushing yards and second in rushing attempts with 677.
Henderson was named the Newcomer of the Year in the Big Sky Conference as a freshman in 2006.
The UFL began play in 2009 with four teams in New York, Las Vegas, California and Orlando. For 2010, the league has relocated its New York franchise to Hartford, Conn. and added a club in Omaha.
