NAU-TV Basketball Coverage in HD Starts Nov. 15

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - NAU-TV will again partner with NAU Athletics and televise 16 men’s and women’s basketball games from the Northern Arizona University campus in 2011-12. NAU-TV has upgraded its coverage to full high definition this season, while broadcasting all their events online and distributing to Fox Sports Arizona, Fox College Sports and local Flagstaff cable.

“To have the accessibility of television and the ability to reach a national audience is great for our program and university as a whole,” said Head Women’s Coach Laurie Kelly. “It has been very helpful to recruiting outside our state and some of the regional areas, attracting student-athletes from different parts of the country.”

The first NAU-TV basketball broadcast will be the NAU-Adams State women’s basketball Tuesday, Nov. 15. It will be picked up nationally by Fox College Sports and shown online on the NAU-TV and Big Sky TV web streams. It will also be shown locally on Suddenlink cable on channel 4. The NAU-TV broadcast team includes Mitch Strohman, Jordan Byrd, Dave Brown, Sharon Falor and Marc Buckhout.

NAU-TV will distribute all of the events to Fox College Sports (FCS), a collection of three digital cable channels (Pacific, Central, Atlantic) that are available nationwide via basic digital cable and satellite. Direct TV has Fox College Sports on channels 617 and 623. All 16 basketball telecasts will be shown live on Fox College Sports.

Selected games will also be shown live and on a tape-delayed basis on Fox Sports Arizona. FSAZ is a regional sports network available in Arizona and New Mexico in 2.5 million households and nationally via satellite via the sports package. Fox Sports Arizona is on Direct TV 686 and Dish Network 415.

Fox Sports Arizona and Fox Sports Arizona PLUS will carry six NAU games live during the season, starting with the men’s basketball contest against Pepperdine on Dec. 7. The women’s games against Nebraska (Dec. 10), Idaho State (Jan. 21), Northern Colorado (Jan. 27) and Montana (March 3) will be shown on one of the Fox Sports Arizona platforms. They will also air the men’s game against defending Big Sky Conference champion Northern Colorado on Jan. 30. Four additional games will be shown on a tape-delayed basis.
