NAU Student-Athletes Earn 40 Winter Big Sky All-Academic Honors
OGDEN, Utah – The NAU men's basketball, women's basketball, and men's and women's indoor track and field teams have combined to earn 40 Big Sky All-Academic selections for the winter season. The Lumberjack student-athletes have combined for 89 Big Sky All-Academic honors this year after 49 student-athletes earned the award during the fall season.
To be eligible for Big Sky All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: 1)Participated in at least half of the team's competitions; 2)Achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at the conclusion of the most recently completed term; 3)Completed at least one academic term at his/her current Big Sky institution. A total of 286 student-athletes were named to the winter Big Sky team.
The women's indoor track and field team led the way with 18 selections while the men's indoor track and field team earned 14 honors. NAU's women's basketball team totaled four All-Academic Honors and the men's basketball team added four selections. Selections for the All-Academic teams were based off GPA's for the fall semester in which the NAU student-athletes recorded a school-record 3.12 cumulative GPA.
