Lumberjack Fall Teams Place 40 on Big Sky All-Academic Teams

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona cross country, football, soccer and volleyball programs were recognized with 40 student-athletes on the Big Sky Fall All-Academic teams released by the conference office.
The cross country teams were highlighted by David McNeill, who was an ESPN Academic All-America selection last year. Three of the four representatives from the women’s team have 4.00 grade point averaged including Carissa Gwerder, Alex Myers and Sarah Raber.
The football team had 11 student-athletes on the team led by junior Ben Bachelier, who boasts a 3.97 GPA. Dan Pela, a CoSIDA Academic All-District selection, has a 3.59 in health sciences/health promotion.
The soccer team had a conference-best 13 selections to the Big Sky All-Academic team led by senior Kristi Andreassen, the ESPN Academic All-American of the Year in the sport of soccer. Andre Luciano’s team had six student-athletes with 3.6 or higher GPAs.
The volleyball team had eight selections. Sophomore Lauren Campbell, who has a 4.00 GPA in mechanical engineering, was an ESPN Academic All-District choice this fall.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: 1) Participated in at least half of the team’s competitions; 2) Achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at the conclusion of the most recently completed term; 3) Completed at least one academic term at his/her current Big Sky institution.
