FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona football program is less than a week away from officially kicking off their training for the 2017 season. Guided by head coach Jerome Souers in his 20^th season, the Lumberjacks have quarterback Case Cookus back, and wide receiver Emmanuel Butler to haul in the passes. The first practice is scheduled for Monday, July 31 at 2:30 p.m.

Just a week ago, the Lumberjacks were picked to finish third in the Big Sky by the league coaches and media. Butler, placekicker Griffin Roehler, and offensive guard Tyler Shank were all named to the Preseason All-Big Sky Team.
The Lumberjacks have 11 games on their schedule with six games being played at home in the Walkup Skydome. NAU kicks off its season on Saturday, Sept. 2 at the University of Arizona. Other non-conference games for NAU include Missouri Valley Conference opponents Western Illinois and Illinois State.
