ATHLETICS DIRECTOR HONOR ROLL…
We have featured the academic success of our student-athletes last semester in the newsletter, but on Thursday we will make a special presentation at the men’s basketball game to honor the Athletic Directors Honor Roll. During the fall semester eighty (80) student athletes posted a 3.5 or better semester or cumulative grade point average to earn Athletic Directors Honor Roll status. NEWS AND NOTES…
Congratulations for Nicole Elliott for being named Big Sky Women’s Field Athlete of the Week for her performance last week in the NAU Open. The 2012 football schedule is available for viewing on our website with the addition of Fort Lewis as the home opener in 2012. Look for a complete release on the schedule later this week. The men’s basketball team hosts Weber State and the nation’s leading scorer Damian Lillard Thursday night at the Rolle Activity Center. Media Relations Director Steve Shaff wrote a blog about Lillard this week and the task at hand for the Lumberjacks after holding him to 18 points in the first matchup. Don’t forget about the FREE screensaver available with the latest pictures of NAU student-athletes. You can download it here. The track and field team hosts the NAU Invitational this Saturday. Field events begin at 9 a.m., while running events commence at 11 a.m.
STUDENT-ATHLETE SPOTLIGHT…
Arnaud Froidmont, a junior from Namur, Belgium, had a 4.00 grade
point average in his first semester. He is a seeking a
master’s degree in applied physics. Froidmont had a
monumental day on Saturday at the NAU Open, first by winning the
400-meter dash in a time of 47.03@, then by anchoring the
Lumberjacks' 4x400-meter relay team to a six-second victory over
Arizona State and Arizona. Froidmont not only leads the Big Sky
Conference in the 400 meters, but he is also ranked 11th
nationally, and unofficially broke a south Belgian record with his
effort. In the meet's final event, Froidmont's sub-47 second anchor
leg helped the relay to a time of 3:11.58@, which is tops in the
conference by nearly seven seconds, and currently ranks 26th in the
nation.
