At the time of his induction into the Hall of Fame in 1992. Wylie Smith will be entering his 27th year at Northern Arizona University. For the past 19 years, he has served as Sports Information Director. Prior to that time, he served as a member of the University's public information staff. Over the past 22years, Smith has been involved with more than 350 sports publication at Northern Arizona University. Several of his publications have won College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSida) awards. Smith is now in his tenth year of serving as National Chair for the CoSida post graduate scholarship committee. He was Press Chief in charge of baseball at the 1989 US Olympic Festival in Oklahoma City. He was assistant venue Press Chief in charge of Track and Field at the 1984 Olympic Games held in Los Angeles. He worked the NFL Draft in New York City in 1988 and 1989. He was a media coordinator at the 1990 Super Bowl in New Orleans. Smith earned two degrees from NAU-Masters in Education and Ed.S. in Curriculum Development. He is also involved with the Flagstaff Winter Festival, Big Brothers, Flagstaff Little League and Arizona Boys State.
