Ruth Parsons McGolpin, Volleyball, 1987-89, 1991
Ruth Parsons McGolpin was the leader of the Lumberjack volleyball team being tops on the team in assists and assist average all four seasons, including a league high and school record 1,519 during her final season. She led the Jacks in digs and dig average her first three years. As a senior, Parsons topped the team and the Bid Sky Conference in aces and ace average and had the teams best attack percentage as a junior (.244). She is the school's all-time leader in digs (1,199) as well as double-doubles (56) and is second all-time in dig average (3.01). Parsons McGolpin's 3.77 dig average set in 1987 is still an NAU record. Parsons McGolpin is second all-time at NAU in assists (4,011). Her 10.05 assist average is third best in school history. She is third all-time in aces with 120. Her 0.301 ace average still ranks among the NAU top 10. Parsons McGolpin concluded her career playing 399 games, behind only Lisa Wylie (438) and Tami Burchard (425). She was recognized for her accolades on the court by being a two-time all-conference pick and selected to the Big Sky Conference All-Decade team (1982-92).
