1998 NAU Athletics Hall of Fame Class
(Volleyball/Track and Field, 1986-91)
Debbie Orr, an amazing NAU star who stood out as both a volleyball player and a high jumper with the track team, is still all over the NAU record books for her volleyball exploits. Now the varsity volleyball coach at Flagstaff Sinagua High School, Orr is on elite lists over 24 seasons of Lumberjack volleyball. A first-team All-Big Sky conference pick in 1988, a second-team selection in 1989 and an honorable-mention performer in 1987, Orr is the all-time leader among NAU middle blockers for digs (719) and is No. 1 all-time in block solos (118). Orr is on the NAU career top-10 in seven categories, including kills (1,129), attacks (2,983), aces (106), digs, block assists (209) and total blocks (327). As a member of the track team, Orr was a 1991 All-American in the outdoor high jump, the 1987 indoor track team MVP, honorable-mention All-Mountain West conference in 1988 and still holds the school record for the outdoor high jump (6 feet, ¾ inch).
