1992 NAU Athletics Hall of Fame Class
(Head Athletic Trainer, 1970-Present)
At the time of his induction in the Hall of Fame in 1992, Mike Nesbitt will be entering his 23rd year as Head Athletic Trainer at Northern Arizona University. Five of his student trainers at NAU have won National Athletic Training Association scholarships. More than 20 of his former students are now actively serving as athletic trainers at the high school, collegiate or professional level. Nesbitt has been instrumental in placing athletic trainers in Arizona high school settings. In 1973, he was named dedicatee to the Arizona High School All Star Games. In 1982, he was named Arizona Athletic Trainer of the Year by the Arizona Medical Association. In 1985, he was named the Distinguished Faculty Member by the NAU Alumni Association. Nesbitt served as president of the Arizona Athletic Trainers Association from 1977-1983. He has served on the Board of Directors for the National Athletic Trainers Association-Rocky Mountain Region since 1986. He has been the Awards Chairman of the Arizona Medial Association Sports Medicine Section since 1980. He also served as chairman of the Big Sky Conference Sports Medicine Council from 1982-1989.
