(Baseball, 1969-71/Baseball Coach, 1981)
An All-Big Sky first baseman and team MVP, Joe Killeen led NAU to within one game of the NAIA World Series in 1970. He ended his collegiate career as a .357 hitter, including a .371 mark during the 1971 season while on his way to all-conference honors. "Pappa Joe," as the Vietnam vet was known, was an obvious choice as a two-time team captain. Killeen returned to NAU in 1981 as an assistant baseball coach. He later served as head baseball coach at Arizona Western College and at the time of his induction was the head baseball coach at Flagstaff High School.
