Tom Jurich was a Kodak All American (Co-Captain). 1st team placekicker in 1977, and was selected a Sporting News All American. That same year, he was chosen the offensive Big Sky Player of the Year, the only kicker ever to receive this honor. Jurich ranked 1st at Northern Arizona University in points (160) by kicking; the most PAT conversions (10) in a single game; and the most 50-yard field goals: 3/season and 3/career. He was twice honored as offensive Big Sky Player of the Week and was member of the NCAA Division II playoff team in 1977, which was ranked 5th nationally. In both1976 and 1977, he was named first team Big Sky Conference kicker. He was drafted by the Pittsburg Steelers and ended his career with the Minnesota Vikings. In 1986, Jurich returned to NAU and became the youngest athletics director in the NCAA.
