Andy Hurd remains the all-time leading scorer in NAU basketball history. He recorded 1,533 points in the four years at NAU. He was a four-year letterman, starting some of his freshman season and all of his sophomore, junior and senior years. Of the 24 career record categories, Hurd's name can be found in the top ten 15 of them. He holds the Lumberjack record for most field goals made in a career with 597 and in 3-point field goal percentage with .449 (53 of 118 attempts). He is third in career field goal attempts (1,207) and free throw percentage (.839, 286-341). Hurd averaged 30.2 minutes in the 110 games in which he played. Hurd is a co-holder of the season record for games played, participating in 29 games during the 1984-85 campaign. He was a three-time All-Big Sky team selection and a member of the Big Sky's Silver Anniversary All-Conference team. He was an all-academic selection in 1985-86 and was named the Big Sky Athlete of the Week three times in his career, the only other NAU basketball athlete to be so honored was NAU Hall of Famer Tom DeBurry.
