(Wrestling Coach, 1961-69, 1976-79)
Wes Brown was the first wrestling coach at Northern Arizona University. He founded the program and served as head coach for 13 years. As a graduate of Northwestern University, he also served as the head wrestling coach at his alma mater. In the 1960, 1964 and 1968 Olympic Games, he served as a referee-judge and was elected chairman of the U.S. Olympic Wrestling Committee for the 1972 games in Munich. Brown served as the National Wresting Chairman of the Amateur Athletic union from 1965 to 1974. He is a member of the Arizona Wrestling Hall of Fame. Upon his arrival at NAU in 1959, Brown also established one of the nation's finest law enforcement programs. Many of his former students have attained professional advancement in local, county, state and national agencies.
