Scott Renfro begins his third season as the Assistant Athletic Director for compliance and fourth year overall working with compliance at Northern Arizona University. He joined the staff as the compliance coordinator at Northern Arizona University in the fall of 2009 and was promoted to Interim Assistant Athletic Director in August 2010.
He was officially named to the position in November 2010.
Renfro directs NCAA compliance and eligibility efforts and student services for the athletic department and is responsible for the day-to-day education and implementation of NCAA rules and regulations for the athletics department as well as the university at large.
He joined the NAU staff after
serving as the graduate assistant for athletic compliance at Miami
University for the last two seasons. He assisted in daily
operations of the compliance office, including preparation of
financial aid forms, maintaining the Institutional Request List
including reviewing high school transcripts and rules
interpretations. He worked with NCAA compliance computer software
LSDBi, banner and CAi and has working knowledge of the NCAA
Clearinghouse website.
Prior to working in the compliance office, Renfro was the
assistant event management director at Miami in 2006-07. He was
responsible of hiring and managing a staff of 12 interns that
provided gameday oversight for all of Miami’s home athletic
events and supervised a 60-person usher staff. He earned employee
of the month as well as a Tomahawk award for distinguished
service.
He has worked three PGA Championship events including Whistling Straights in 2004, Baltusrol in 2005 and Medinah CC in 2006. He was the tournament operations coordinator at Medinah responsible for working with 25 on-site vendors, over 3,000 volunteers and tournament staff in preparation for the championship.
Renfro graduated from Miami University in 2005 with a B.S. in sports studies. He graduated suma cum laude with a master’s from Miami in sports administration in 2009.
