In addition to his day-to-day media coverage of his primary sports, he will also assist with the coverage of all 15 intercollegiate sports at NAU.
Isobe joins the Sports Information Department at Northern Arizona after earning his bachelor's degree in Secondary Education Mathematics with a minor in Japanese from NAU in 2011. During his undergraduate career, he worked as a sports reporter for the campus newspaper, The Lumberjack, and ascended to Assistant Sports Editor in his senior year. There, his main duties were covering the women's soccer and women's basketball teams as the primary beat reporter. His work with the women's soccer program included coverage of the program's first three Big Sky championships and two NCAA Women's College Cup appearances.
In addition to his reporting work, Isobe also appeared on The Lumberjack's weekly sports talk show, Jacked Up, where he discussed the news and activities of the Northern Arizona athletic teams.
Isobe, a native of Waipahu, Hawaii, hopes for the future opportunity to blend his passion for journalism and education to advise a high school newspaper, as well as teach high school mathematics.
He is currently working towards his master's degree in educational leadership.
