Michael Giedlin (pronounced GID-lin) begins his second year working in the Northern Arizona University athletics department as the assistant athletics director for fiscal operations.

Giedlin joined the Lumberjacks athletics staff after spending almost 12 years on the staff of the Norfolk Tides Baseball Club, the Triple A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. He served as the business manager for the club since Oct. 2000 after joining the organization as the director of merchandising in 1999.

With the Tides, he was responsible for managing all the business activities including accounts receivable, accounts payable, revenue collection, payroll and budget implementation.

Prior to the Tides, Giedlin worked on the campuses of Georgia State University (1996-99) in Atlanta, Ga., and Alfred State College In Alfred, N.Y. (1995-95).

He graduated from Mansfield State University in Pennsylvania with a B.A. in business administration, concentrating on administration and accounting. He was a member of the baseball team, serving as captain in 1983. He is currently working on his master’s degree in finance from St. Bonaventure University.

Giedlin was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1979 out of high school.

He is married to the former Lynn Peregoy. They have a son, Mitchell, along with stepchildren Jacob and Jessica.
