Steve Anderson begins his first season as a graduate assistant with the strength and conditioning program under Cody Hodgeson. He will work with the men’s and women’s basketball, golf and football programs this year.

Anderson came to NAU from the Air Force Academy after serving a semester internship in Colorado Springs, Colo., working with the football, wrestling, boxing and women’s soccer program. He also worked at Bally Total Fitness.

He has an extensive background in MMA and Muay Thai training and has trained fighters for amateur and professional level Muay Thai and MMA competitions. He is a Muay Thai amateur fighter and served as the head coach of the Iowa State Muay Thai program.

Anderson, a native of Oskaloosa, Iowa, also served a micro-internship with the Iowa State strength and conditioning department in 2007. He also worked as a strength and conditioning consultant and wrestling/grappling assistant coach with Roundkick Muay Thai/MMA Gym in Urbandale, Iowa from August 2009 to December 2010.

He graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor of Science in health and human performance with an emphasis in strength and conditioning in May of 2011. He will be working on his Masters of Education in educational leadership and administration.
