Ryan Pinson begins his sixth full season as the head athletic trainer after being named to the position in the spring of 2006.  He oversees the entire athletic training operation while coordinating the day-to-day responsibilities for the football, men's basketball and women's golf teams.  Pinson also works closely with the student athletic training program.  He views the mentoring process of student athletic trainers as the most rewarding part of his job.

Overall, Pinson is in his 10th year on the NAU athletic training staff.  He served three seasons as an assistant athletic trainer working with men's basketball, women's soccer, and men's and women's track and field.  He also worked as a graduate assistant in the department. 

Pinson graduated from Oregon State University in 2000 with a degree in exercise and sports science.  He went on to complete his master's degree in educational leadership during his time as a graduate assistant at NAU. Pinson is certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification and is an Arizona Licensed Athletic Trainer.

Pinson is a native of Adak, Alaska.  He was married to the former Sara Kotler in the summer of 2008.
