Dena Lane-Bonds joins the Northern Arizona Academic Services staff as a graduate assistant for the 2012-13 academic year. She will work with NAU's football, women’s basketball, tennis and women's volleyball programs. Lane-Bonds is a 2010 graduate of Indiana University where she double majored in Psychology and African-American Diaspora Studies with a minor in Social Science and Medicine while also earning a certificate in Neuroscience.
Lane-Bonds had served as an Academic Counselor and Class Monitoring Coordinator for the Athletics Academics Advising Office at the University of Massachusetts since August 2011. She counseled more than 100 student athletes from the UMASS men's and women's cross country and track and field teams, running team academic meetings and monitoring academic progress. She also has previous academic advising experience at her alma mater Indiana, where she worked as an intern from Sept. 2010 to May 2011.
As a graduate assistant, Lane-Bonds is pursuing a master's degree in counseling-student affairs.
