Andrew Tomsky begins his first year as the Assistant Media Relations Director at Northern Arizona University after spending the last two years as a Media Relations Graduate Assistant. He assists the director in the day-to-day coverage of all 15 intercollegiate sports while serving as the primary contact for several sports, including volleyball, women's basketball and women's swimming and diving.
Tomsky worked with the women's soccer and men's and women's tennis teams as a graduate assistant from 2009 to 2011. His promotional efforts earned CoSIDA/ESPN Women's Soccer Academic All-American of the Year and Lowe's Senior CLASS Award finalist honors for senior Kristi Andreassen. During his tenure, the program achieved nine of the top 20 crowds in program history. Tomsky also worked with the Northern Arizona men's and women's tennis teams, gaining a combined 16 All-Big Sky selections as both teams advanced to the Big Sky Championship Finals in consecutive seasons.
In addition to his media relations work, Tomsky also assisted in broadcasting Northern Arizona athletics on TV and radio on the NAU Lumberjack Network. He served as a sideline reporter and halftime host for NAU football and men's basketball broadcasts while providing play-by-play on television and radio for the Northern Arizona women's basketball team.
He joined the Sports Information staff at Northern Arizona after spending a year assisting in the promotion of 20 varsity teams as a Media Relations Assistant at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, Calif. He was the primary contact for women's soccer, men's and women's tennis and men's and women's swimming and diving. Additionally, Tomsky served as a play-by-play broadcaster for men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball, women's basketball and softball while at Cal Poly, including broadcasts from the NCAA men's soccer and softball championships.
Tomsky earned a bachelors degree from the University of California, Davis, while majoring in communication with minors in statistics and film studies. He worked for the campus radio station, KDVS, throughout his undergraduate career and was the sports director during his senior year. He hosted a weekly sports talk show, Aggie Talk, while also providing play-by-play for UC Davis football, men's and women's basketball and baseball. For three years, Tomsky was the exclusive radio voice for all UC Davis women's basketball games, including a trip to the Women's NIT, and broadcasted from the NCAA baseball regionals.
