33 Lumberjacks Earn Big Sky Spring All-Academic Honors

OGDEN, Utah – Thirty-three members of the Northern Arizona men's and women's outdoor track & field, men's and women's tennis, and women's golf teams were named to the 2016 Big Sky Spring All-Academic Team, announced today by the conference office.

To be eligible for Big Sky All-Academic honors, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: 1) Participated in at least half of the team's competitions; 2) Achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at the conclusion of the most recently completed term; 3) Completed at least one academic term at his/her current Big Sky institution.

The Lumberjack women's outdoor track & field team led the way with 13 student-athletes on the Big Sky All-Academic team. The men's outdoor track & field team placed nine athletes on the list. Women's golf had an all-time best six student-athletes earn accolades, while women's tennis had three and men's tennis picked up two honors.

Seventeen of the student-athletes recorded a 3.5 grade point average or higher, while three Lumberjacks registered a perfect 4.0. Track & field's Caleb Hoover, a two-time Academic All-American, led the way along with teammate Kyle Havriliak and Hanneke Lodewijks from the women's tennis program. 

NAU placed 31 student-athletes on the Big Sky Academic Team in the fall and 38 on the winter team. Swimming & diving had 21 student-athletes honored on the Western Athletic Conference All-Academic Team.
